Words of The Week is a list of words I have learned throughout the week. It helps me keep track of my expanding vocabulary and teaches us all something new!

Ecophobia – A fear or aversion towards environmental destruction and ecological threats or dangers.
“Debilitating anxiety regarding global warming is an example of ecophobia.”
Ecocriticism – The study of the relationship between literature and ecology (organisms & their physical environment).
“National parks help preserve the ecology of the land.”
Incorrigible – A person or bad habit that cannot be reformed, changed, or corrected.
“Some of you heauxs is just incorrigible.”
Rue – A bitter regret or repent, wishing something never occurred.
“‘I rue the day that I left you,’ the idiot man said.”
Metastasize – A rapid and destructive spread of something, usually describes cancer.
“The Watergate Scandal metastasized in the media quickly, as it should have.”
Pontificate – Expressing one’s opinions in an annoyingly self-important manner.
“Don’t pontificate around me, keep that shit at home.”
Endocannabinoid – Chemical neurotransmitters (lipids) produced within the body to maintain its homeostasis. Regulates mood, pain, appetite, memory, etc.
“Dancing increases endocannabinoid production within this sexy body.”
Abreast – Meaning side by side or up to date, depends on the context. Shoutout to Judy at The “B” Agency for this one. She said it like three whole times, prompting me to learn what the word means.
“I keep abreast Judy’s greatness on LinkedIn.”
Egalitarian – The belief that all people are created equal, especially in worth, social status, income, and generally rights.
“I would side-eye someone who is loudly anti-egalitarian.”
“I think I am quite fond of egalitarianism.”
